Steeler Game Sunday ii2

This weekend i could not believe the loss that the steelers had brought upon Pittsburgh. Of all the teams to lose to, we lose to Kansas City Chiefs. See to put it into simpler terms, the Steelers were 6-3 while the Chiefs were 2-5. Now that record is horrible. Not to mention though that the main quarterback, Ben Roeslithberger, was taken out in the fourth quarter due to an injury. This was more than likely what resulted in the chiefs coming back two touchdowns to win it in overtime. This just ruined my Sunday afternoon, not to mention having to drive anywhere and finish up schoolwork that was due.

Coffee Bar Reading

Wednesday night I had gone to the Otherlands Coffee Bar poetry reading. Well let us just say it was different. The female reader was not very loud so I could not hear exactly what she was reading. But with the male reader, he expressed his thoughts very vividly. The reading was really awkward since it was talking of what it sounded to be like a real life experience of his life with a guy friend. It talked about how he once got into drugs and how they affected the life of him and his friend. Eventually if I heard correctly his friend had killed himself, although I cannot remember exactly how. But the aura that the coffee bar gave was one that made the reading a somewhat interesting event. Would I return and go to another reading? Well I might return once more and if I experience the same type of reading probably not. It was just not my source of fun that I enjoy.

Police, Good or Bad?

The weekend was a good weekend. I have noticed one thing over the weekend though, not necessarily a bad thing. But police officers are said to be heroes and all, but why is it they seem to be more worried on the type of vehicle speeding before they think of the actual offender. Sat night, the weather was perfect so me and some of my friends go on a little motorcycle ride down I-40. Well, eventually we began to go the equal speed of those around us and because there were four of us on street bikes, the cop chose to pull us over instead of the cars that were in front of us. Now if you think about it, what would be the right thing to do? Pull over the car going about 85, or the motorcycles going about 80 mph. This seemed to just decrease my respect for cops much more than it already is. I just thought I would share that.

Semesters End is near

The semester has just blown by this year. It has just hit me that the semester is almost over, just about four weeks left of the term. I don’t know what it is about end of terms but it seems to be that teachers are happy to dump out the work on all us ready to be through with school. But regardless of how much work is given out, the students seem to only care for a little amount of time before they just do it and forget about it. So now as the semester draws near the end, exams are next. The big test to whether one really does pass or fail. If they did not have finals, school would be much easier. But as a result of school, there must be proficiency tests.

Niel White Visit

Last night, another classmate and i had gone to listen to Niel White describe his book Sanctuary of Outcasts. The book was made to seem actually somewhat interesting, about how he was detained in a federal prison with lepers (Leprosy infected). During the visit, he allowed the audience to ask certain questions directed to him or towards his writing. Questions such as "how did your children influence their section in the book?" and "How did you sell your work?" The answers he returned were pretty interesting. His kids actually thought it was cool that he publish the memoir and that they are involved in it. The second question he answered saying "Dont seek out the editor, edit your work to its fullest and then try to let the editor find you" like what happened to him. I don't believe his answer is truly true because if you want your work out you should create your own path. But it was a good interview/discussion.

Steelers vs Broncos

Wow the game tonight was amazing. The game did start out slow with us losing but only by a field goal. Near the end of the first quarter, beginning of the second, the game began to increase its pace. The Steelers began to throw and run the ball much better than they had previously scoring a total of four touchdowns while the Broncos only scored one and a fieldgoal. Throughout the game, there were many interceptions thrown between both teams. Even through all the excitement, the Steelers still prevailed. So in the end, the best team wins.

The Weekend Weather

This weekend has been by far one of the best weekends we have had by far. Although the weather is not as cold as i would like, at least it is not raining. Back to the actual weekend weather, it has been very moderate to withstand not really going over seventy degrees. The leaves are beginning to turn their fallish orange color which my mother really enjoys. Also, the weatehr was perfect for riding motorcycles and i got to ride mine with my dad, uncle, and cousin while they were down for the wedding. So the weather actual brings good things with it when it is nice enough to enjoy.

WeddingsAs the weddin gdrew closer,

Over the past several days, it has been very hectic dealing with a wedding. I dont think i have ever been in a more stressful enviroment. As the day drew closer, more and more things began to pop up. Her is a brief list of what all we had to do: first we had to go to the tuxedo store to get our final fitting of ourt tuxedos. After that we traveled to the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner. After the dinner we went downtown for the bachelors party and then woke up and less than a couple hours of sleep began the main day. We had to get dressed and take pictures and then had to go to the wedding and get into our positions. then finlally the wedding was complete and we were able to relax. This was a big relief for me.

Empty Glass

I can see right through it, just clear as can be. It is just sitting on the solid surface as if it is trying to become filled with something. A small, minuscule bug flying around the cylinder itself looking for a exit, but it cannot find it because the cylinder has only one clear exit. Its whole life’s goal is to be used to deliver an incredibly smooth beverage to somebody’s mouth. This is the story of an empty glass. Once the glass has held out its life purpose it is forever relaxed. This prompt of an empty glass was derived from the creative writing website. So although it is a short story, what else can you expand on an empty glass.

Parkers Back

After reading Parkers Back outside of class it seems like the story that can relate to a majority of people who believe in the Christian lifestyle. What it seems to be is that of a young man who at first does not believe in Christ and tends to think that he is his own creator and destroyer. Married to just about the complete opposite individual, Sara Ruth relies heavenly on what the bible tells her about living life. As the story moved on, it became a little interesting as you wondered if anything was going to change between them. Near the end Parker decides to get a tattoo on his back resembling Christ. He did this as a chance to impress Sara Ruth. When as a result he became closer to the savior and began to notice what he had been missing out on all his life. Though the story does not have a definite ending, it was a decent short story to have read.
