Mark Yakich

In class, we listened to the reading of the poem Green Zone New Orleans. The poem is read through nine different voices or point of views. Though some may think the poem sounds odd and not understandable but I think it is the affects of hurricane Katrina. It talks much about the different individual’s belief in God, abandonment of what they have known their entire lives, and some even enjoy their lives now. Opening the poem, it talks of someone leaving his house, talking to it as if it were alive. Further into the poem, there is a couple who pees over the side of a balcony on Bourbon Street. And multiples involve God in their reading of the poem. All this comes to play in a way that it shows how one thing (Hurricane Katrina) can change things.
